Bloody Mary Shrimp
Neocaridina davidi Bloody Mary
The Bloody Mary Shrimp is the pinnacle of red Neocaridina genetics. Unlike the Red Cherry or Painted Fire Red whose color resides entirely in their outer shell (exoskeleton), the Bloody Mary's intense crimson color is actually carried in their tissue/flesh. This gives them a distinct, mesmerizing, deep translucent ruby-red appearance that seems to glow from within. They also feature a shorter rostrum (nose) than typical cherry shrimp. While slightly more demanding regarding water stability than standard cherries, they are a spectacular addition for the intermediate hobbyist looking to upgrade their colony. Raised in pristine conditions, our Bloody Marys are guaranteed to be true-line with zero hybridization.

Blue Dream Shrimp
Neocaridina davidi Blue
Blue Dream Shrimp offer a mesmerizing deep sapphire blue that commands attention in any aquascape. Bred from the same hardy Neocaridina lineage as the cherry shrimp, these striking invertebrates bring a cool, rare tone to the planted aquarium. Our home-bred Blue Dreams are robust, highly active, and fully adapted to typical Indian tap water parameters. Because of their vivid coloration, they stand out spectacularly against bright green plants and light-colored sands. Maintaining them is straightforward; provide them with stable water parameters, a sponge filter, and a biofilm-rich environment, and they will reward you by breeding readily and cleaning every crevice of your nano tank. A must-have for enthusiasts looking for premium color forms without complex care requirements.

Specialized Quarantine Standards for Indian Nano Aquariums
At NanoAquatics.in, we understand the distinct challenges Indian aquarists face when maintaining dwarf shrimp and delicate nano fish. Tap water parameters across India vary significantly โ from hard, mineral-heavy borewell water in South India to treated municipal supplies in metropolitan areas. To ensure 100% survival upon introduction to your home aquarium, every piece of livestock in our facility undergoes a rigorous 7-day quarantine and parameter stabilization protocol.
Our captive-bred Neocaridina shrimp (including Red Cherry, Blue Dream, and Bloody Mary strains) and high-grade Caridina species are acclimated to stable Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) and mineralized Reverse Osmosis (RO) water. Before dispatch, every shipment is packed in specialized breathable membranes with insulated thermocol boxes, seasonal phase-change temperature packs, and oxygen enrichment to withstand multi-day transit across all Indian states.
Whether you are setting up a planted high-tech scaper tank with Monte Carlo and Java Moss or stocking a 5-gallon desktop shrimp sanctuary with Chili Rasboras and Horned Nerite Snails, our live arrival guarantee (DOA Policy) and expert aquarist support guide you through drip acclimation and water parameter management. Explore our full catalog and free aquarist calculation tools to build a thriving nano aquatic ecosystem.

Breeding Nano Aquatics in Indian Water Parameters
In our breeding tanks, weโve learned that the secret to a thriving nano aquarium lies entirely in water parameter stability. Indian municipal tap water can be highly unpredictable, especially during the monsoon season when chlorine and chloramine levels spike. For hardy Neocaridina species like our vibrant Red Cherry Shrimp and Green Jade Shrimp, we recommend a target Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) range of 150โ250, a GH of 4โ8, and a KH of 2โ5. These parameters provide the essential minerals required for proper molting and exoskeleton development.
Conversely, Caridina species (such as Crystal Red Shrimp and Crystal Black Shrimp) require strictly controlled, soft, and acidic water. We observe that attempting to keep Caridina in standard Indian tap water almost always results in failure. They demand a buffered active soil substrate, a GH of 3โ5, KH of 0โ1, and a TDS strictly between 90โ120, achieved by remineralizing RO (Reverse Osmosis) water with dedicated GH+ salts.
Tankmates & Compatibility
A peaceful community is essential for breeding. We highly recommend pairing your shrimp with micro-rasboras like the Chili Rasbora, or peaceful bottom-dwellers like Pygmy Corydoras. To manage algae organically without harming shrimp shrimplets, Nerite Snails or Ramshorn Snails make excellent additions to the cleanup crew. Provide abundant hiding spaces using dense foreground carpets of Monte Carlo or tangled clumps of Java Moss.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How do you handle shipping shrimp safely in the Indian summer?
- During the peak summer months (when ambient temperatures exceed 35ยฐC), we utilize high-density thermocol boxes, breather bags to ensure continuous gas exchange, and phase-change cooling packs. This prevents thermal shock and guarantees live arrival.
- What is the acclimation process for new livestock?
- We mandate a slow drip acclimation process. Empty the shipping bag into a clean container and use a specialized drip tube to siphon tank water into the container at a rate of 1-2 drops per second for at least 1.5 to 2 hours. This slowly balances the TDS, pH, and temperature.
- Do I need a chiller for my nano tank?
- While chillers are excellent, a high-velocity cooling fan blowing directly across the water surface is often sufficient to drop the temperature by 2-4ยฐC through evaporative cooling, which keeps Neocaridina safely below their 28ยฐC threshold.
