They possess a classic spiral shell that comes in stunning variations like Pink, Blue, and Leopard-spotted. Ramshorns are master scavengers. They will meticulously clean plant leaves of algae and immediately consume any excess fish food, preventing deadly ammonia spikes. They act as the perfect indicator species: if their population explodes, it is a definitive sign that you are feeding your aquarium too much. When feeding is controlled, they maintain a modest population and serve as an invaluable, tireless cleanup crew.
