Sleek, gothic, and incredibly striking, the Black Rose Shrimp adds a touch of dramatic elegance to any aquascape. These shrimp possess an opaque, deep black coloration that looks stunning when placed over light-colored substrates or contrasted against vibrant green and red aquatic plants. Bred from the Chocolate lineage, the Black Rose is a stable, hardy variant that does well in standard Neocaridina parameters. While their care is identical to Cherry Shrimp, maintaining the intense black coloration requires a mature setup and a high-quality diet. They are active and fascinating to watch as their tiny white claws move rapidly against their jet-black bodies while they graze.

Bloody Mary Shrimp

Neocaridina davidi Bloody Mary

Intermediate
β˜… 4.6 (689)

The Bloody Mary Shrimp is the pinnacle of red Neocaridina genetics. Unlike the Red Cherry or Painted Fire Red whose color resides entirely in their outer shell (exoskeleton), the Bloody Mary's intense crimson color is actually carried in their tissue/flesh. This gives them a distinct, mesmerizing, deep translucent ruby-red appearance that seems to glow from within. They also feature a shorter rostrum (nose) than typical cherry shrimp. While slightly more demanding regarding water stability than standard cherries, they are a spectacular addition for the intermediate hobbyist looking to upgrade their colony. Raised in pristine conditions, our Bloody Marys are guaranteed to be true-line with zero hybridization.

Our home-bred Blue Dreams are robust, highly active, and fully adapted to typical Indian tap water parameters. Because of their vivid coloration, they stand out spectacularly against bright green plants and light-colored sands. Maintaining them is straightforward; provide them with stable water parameters, a sponge filter, and a biofilm-rich environment, and they will reward you by breeding readily and cleaning every crevice of your nano tank. A must-have for enthusiasts looking for premium color forms without complex care requirements.

Crystal Red Shrimp

Caridina cantonensis Crystal Red

β˜… 4.6 (312)

The Crystal Red Shrimp (CRS) is the crown jewel of the freshwater shrimp hobby. Known for their striking, opaque candy-cane stripes of brilliant red and pure white, they are a breathtaking addition to any specialized setup. Unlike Neocaridina, these are Caridina shrimp, which means they require strict water parameters to survive and breed. You MUST use RO (Reverse Osmosis) water remineralized with specialized GH+ salts, and an active buffering substrate (like ADA Amazonia) to keep the pH acidic (around 6.0-6.5). While they are demanding, successfully keeping and breeding CRS is a highly rewarding badge of honor for any aquarist. Our stock is home-bred, ensuring they are much hardier than imported specimens.

Green Jade Shrimp

Neocaridina davidi Green Jade

Intermediate
β˜… 4.3 (178)

Green Jade Shrimp are one of the most highly sought-after and rarest color forms in the Neocaridina family. They boast an incredible earthy, deep emerald to jade-green coloration that acts as incredible natural camouflage in a heavily planted tank. Breeding a stable line of Green Jades is notoriously difficult, which is why they command a premium price in the Indian market. Our lineage has been carefully culled for generations to ensure consistent, solid green offspring. They prefer well-established tanks with stable parameters. Due to their color, they look best on light-colored sands or when contrasted against red aquatic plants, as they can sometimes blend in too well with green mosses!

Crystal Black Shrimp

Caridina cantonensis Crystal Black

Advanced
β˜… 4.5 (143)

The Crystal Black Shrimp (CBS), or Black Bee Shrimp, is the wild-type ancestor of the famous Crystal Red Shrimp, selectively bred for intense, opaque black and white banding. Their high-contrast, tuxedo-like appearance makes them one of the most elegant invertebrates available in the hobby. Like their red counterparts, CBS require a strict, dedicated environment with RO water, GH+ remineralizer, and active buffering soil to maintain a low pH and zero KH. They thrive in cooler, highly oxygenated water with plenty of biofilm, cholla wood, and leaf litter (like Indian Almond leaves). When provided with these pristine conditions, they are active grazers and will breed readily, rewarding dedicated hobbyists with miniature black-and-white replicas.

The Orange Sakura Shrimp, also known as the Pumpkin Shrimp, brings a warm, autumnal orange vibrance to the planted aquarium. This striking color morph of the common Neocaridina is relatively new but has quickly become a hobbyist favorite due to its intense, opaque orange coloration that resembles a tiny tangerine. Bred in local Indian waters, they possess the same legendary hardiness as other Neocaridina variants, making them extremely forgiving of minor water parameter fluctuations. They are diligent workers, spending their entire day grazing on surfaces, cleaning up leftover fish food, and consuming soft algae. Their bright coloration makes them exceptionally easy to spot, even in dense jungles of Java Moss or Monte Carlo.

πŸ“– Care & Acclimation Guide for Dwarf Freshwater Shrimp

Dwarf shrimp are delicate yet rewarding additions to planted nano aquariums. In India, water parameters can range from soft municipal water to mineral-heavy groundwater. Successful shrimp keeping starts with understanding whether your target species prefers alkaline mineralized water (Neocaridina) or soft, acidic water (Caridina).

Maintaining consistent water parameters is significantly more important than trying to achieve a theoretically perfect number. Frequent swings in Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) or temperature can trigger premature molting, leading to the dreaded white ring of death. We recommend using our free Shrimp Stocking Calculator to verify that your tank biological filtration can support your desired colony size.

πŸ’‘ Expert Aquarist Tips for Indian Hobbyists

  • β€’ Target Temperature: 22Β°C to 26Β°C. During peak Indian summers, utilize an evaporative surface cooling fan to keep water under 28Β°C.
  • β€’ Drip Acclimation: Always drip acclimate new arrivals for at least 90 to 120 minutes to equalize TDS, pH, and temperature.
  • β€’ Biofilm Development: Establish mature live plants and mosses before introducing shrimp to provide continuous natural grazing surfaces.
