The Nerite Snail is universally hailed as the best glass-cleaning snail in the aquarium hobby. Possessing a voracious appetite for green spot algae and diatoms, a few Nerite Snails will keep your aquarium glass and hardscape spotless. They come in beautiful shell patterns, including Zebra, Tiger, and Olive (shipped randomly based on health). The biggest advantage of Nerite Snails over other common snails is that they cannot reproduce in freshwater. While females may lay small, white, sesame-seed-like eggs on driftwood, these eggs will never hatch unless in brackish water. This means absolutely zero risk of a snail population explosion. They are 100% peaceful and have a tightly fitting operculum (trapdoor) to protect themselves.

- • Nerite Snails will not eat healthy, living aquarium plants under any circumstances.
- • If they fall on their back in soft sand, they sometimes struggle to right themselves and may need a helping hand.
- • Because they require calcium to grow their shells, they thrive in harder water and may suffer shell pitting in very soft, acidic water.

Our aquatic flora and cleanup crews (snails) are housed in dedicated algae-free, snail-free holding vats. Snails are an incredible addition to any nano tank, efficiently breaking down decaying plant matter and uneaten food without damaging healthy plant leaves. All live plants are grown submerged (unless noted otherwise) to prevent 'melting' during the transition to your aquarium, and are treated to ensure they are completely free of unwanted pests like planaria and hydra.
