Chili Rasbora
Boraras brigittae
The Chili Rasbora is a true micro-fish, rarely exceeding 0.75 inches in length. Originating from the blackwater streams of Borneo, these tiny gems boast a brilliant, fiery red coloration with a stark black lateral stripe. They are the ultimate schooling fish for nano aquariums (even tanks as small as 5 gallons). Due to their minute size, they are completely safe to keep with adult dwarf shrimp, making them a favorite for aquascapers. They require soft, slightly acidic water and dense planting to feel secure. In a heavily planted, well-established tank with dim lighting or floating plants, their red colors become incredibly intense. They should be kept in schools of at least 6-10 individuals.

💡 Interesting Facts
- • They have mouths so small they physically cannot eat adult dwarf shrimp, though very tiny newborn shrimplets might be opportunistic prey.
- • Their native habitat is filled with fallen leaves and peat, giving the water a tea-like tint (blackwater).
- • Males will display deeper red colors and occasionally spar with each other in harmless, dancing displays to attract females.
