Celestial Pearl Danio
Danio margaritatus
Often referred to as the Galaxy Rasbora, the Celestial Pearl Danio (CPD) is one of the most stunning freshwater nano fish ever discovered. They feature a midnight-blue body speckled with pearlescent golden spots, and vivid neon-orange fins striped with black. Discovered in shallow ponds in Myanmar only in 2006, they quickly became a sensation in the aquarium hobby. They are peaceful, active mid-to-bottom dwellers that thrive in heavily planted tanks. While they can be slightly timid when first introduced, a healthy school of 8+ individuals will quickly gain confidence and display beautifully in the open. They prefer slightly cooler water than tropical species, making them ideal for standard Indian room temperatures in winter.

💡 Interesting Facts
- • Males are more intensely colored and have vibrant red/orange bellies, while females are slightly paler and rounder.
- • When first discovered, they were so heavily collected for the trade that they were briefly feared extinct in the wild; thankfully, captive breeding now supplies the hobby.
- • Despite their small size, males will fiercely but harmlessly flare their fins and 'spar' in tight circles to establish dominance.
